Redwood Original

Gilet UK26 - New Look Inspire
Shirt UK26 - New Look Inspire (via ebay)
Skirt UK20 - Primark
Leggings UK24 - George at Asda
Belt - Dorothy Perkins
Boots - Dr Martens

I got this shirt off ebay a couple of weeks ago and when it arrived Andrew instantly said "that will go really well with your leopard print skirt, leather jacket and docs!" I cannot tell you how surprised I was by this as Andrew has never been interested in clothes and always whinges about the amount of clothes I have. Anyway, he was totally right. I want to wear this outfit every single day because, well, look at it. Even my VBL looks great. Suck it, society!

Song of the month

There are few things in life that give me as much pleasure as finding a song I instantly connect with and just can't get enough of. Here is a song that's been on repeat since the moment I heard it.

Willie "Tea" Taylor - Wrong Way To Run

This is Willie "Tea" Taylor, a tea farmer from Oakdale, CA (the cowboy capital of the world, apparently). Willie and this song are both featured on a documentary made by Slowboat Films called The Kingdom of Survival. I haven't seen this documentary yet, but in the trailer Willie has some pretty insightful stuff to say. I've been sending this song pretty obsessively to friends of mine labelling it as a song for your soul, and that's what I truly believe it to be. It's a song that just gets you straight in the gut. It's real honest music, and it's absolutely beautiful.

The album this song comes from is available now on Willie's Bandcamp page. I would really recommend this album, and buying it on Bandcamp means that most of the money goes directly to the artist rather than into the back pocket of a large record label's designer slacks. http://willyteataylor.bandcamp.com/

In the heart of Dogtown.

T-Shirt (ukXL)- £7.99 H&M
Leggings (uk26)- £18 ASOS Curve
Gilet (uk26)- £22.99 New Look Inspire
Creepers - £24.99 New Look
Sunglasses - Mel's

I have been after a leather gilet for a few months now (what can I say, I'm an avid fan of Sons of Anarchy), so when I saw that New Look had them back in stock I screamed a little and bought it straight away. A while back (after unsuccessful searches for a gilet) I saw a leather jacket in the sale on the New Look website. They only had it in my size and it was on sale for £12.99 (!!!) so I put it down to fate and got it straight away. When comparing the gilet to the jacket, the gilet is much, much better quality. Unfortunately the jacket is VERY plasticy and quite thin, it's one of those that is not breathable in the slightest and just putting it on for a couple of minutes makes you feel quite sweaty (ew). The gilet, however, is absolutely perfect. It's thick, heavy and quite flexible, and definitely doesn't have the same sweaty qualities that the jacket has. I've never seen a fake leather look so real before, especially when I thought it would be the same material as the jacket. I'm so pleased with it, all I need now is my Redwood Original patches and a Harley to look legit!

I had actually been after these leggings for a while too as I adore the pattern, but I couldn't justify the £18 price. Leggings never last too long with me, it doesn't take long for them to wear thin and holey on the inner-thigh. I kept them in my saved items on the ASOS website and one day I went on and they had been reduced to £12. I believe they've been put back on at full price now, but it's worth keeping an eye out on the website if you're skint like me.

Rammer Jammer

Shirt (uk26)- F&F True at Tesco
Black Jeggings (uk24)- New Look Inspire
Creepers - New Look
Sunglasses - Primark
I thought I had lost this shirt a very long time ago, but I woke up today and noticed it sat in a bag of clean washing. I'm not sure how it got there or how it managed to go unnoticed through the washing, but it did and I am glad it has returned. Unfortunately, it is missing four buttons. Accidental boob-slip ahoy!
I usually take a size 26 in jeans and trousers, so a while back I got a pair of these jeggings in a size 26 and just ended up being really big. I still wear them to lounge about the house in, but I have since invested in a couple of pairs of size 24s. At £12.99 they are a bargain, especially because of how comfy they are, however they do wear thin on the inner thigh quite quickly. I'd say if you're going to get some, invest in a couple of pairs so you've got a backup when they inevitably wear out. I do absolutely love them, they fit perfectly right down to my ankles giving the skin-tight look I love and rarely get in any jeggings or jeans in my size, I just wish I could find a really robust pair that will last me more than six months.
As for the creepers, this is also my second pair. They are only £24.99, which is what attracted me to them to begin with. I used to own a pair of TUK creepers way back in the day, but to replace them would cost a lot of money that I just don't have these days. I have a real problem when it comes to footwear; I go through even the most hardy of shoes in next to no time, which is why I tend to opt for many pairs of cheap shoes. These creepers don't seem so cheap when you first get them, they're heavy and seem very robust with a heavy rubber sole, however after about a month of wear the stitching comes very loose and the heel of the inside of the shoe seems to collapse into an abyss. Hence this being my second pair. I wish I had just gone for the more expensive TUK creepers, which would have worked out about the same price as the two cheap pairs, but I had to buy this second pair in a hurry when I needed a shoe to match the height on a boot-cast I've been wearing to fix a torn Achilles tendon.

If anyone would like to donate to my TUK creeper fund, every little helps, right? ;)

Camp Kátur OOTD.

I have been waiting for a special occasion to wear this skirt that I found in amongst my mum's old dance clothes. I spotted this top at our recent Yorkshire Rad Fat Collective clothes swap and knew they would go well together. I teamed it up with my favourite head scarf and some cat-eye sunglasses, and I thought I'd go for a more relaxed 50's style by wearing some regular flat converse. I wish I had gone bare-legged and worn frilly socks instead of the leggings as I ended up completely boiling- so much so that a whole load of bees decided to take a liking to the heat coming from my body and followed me all the way back to our pod! Thankfully I only got stung once, but I have well and truly learned my lesson. Summer heat does not require leggings, yo.

Mel, as usual, looked amazing the whole weekend. I'm not exactly quiet in my love for my beautiful Melly, and I hope she won't mind me putting these up. I absolutely love everything she wears and she always looks so put-together, even when I know she's just "thrown something on".

Camp Kátur

This weekend we went "glamping" in North Yorkshire for Mel's birthday. We stayed at the absolutely stunning Camp Kátur which is about five miles from the village of Masham.

We stayed in this beautiful little "hobbit pod". I really can't speak highly enough of the site, our "pod" was located just on the edge of a forest clearing with a huge meadow in the middle. There are several types of glamping accommodation available including these pods, tipis and safari tents. Each of these has their own BBQ, fire pit and picnic table, and they're fitted out with furniture. There's also an on-site eco-spa which was situated on the other side of the meadow to our pod, but the owners have cut pathways through the meadow leading between each of the accommodation areas, the kitchen and washroom facilities and the spa. These pathways join in the centre at a fire pit with enough seating for everyone to meet and hang-out around the fire on a warm night. The whole place is so aesthetically pleasing and the owners clearly have a keen eye for detail, decorating everything with cute lanterns, bunting, lovely furnishings and fairy lights. It was totally dreamy.
